Application of liquid applied membrane to Grade 1 listed historic buildings, Farnborough Business Park

Project Details
This £1.5m contract comprised the extensive surface preparation, structural repairs and subsequent application of a 25-year warranted liquid roof membrane system to three Grade 1 Listed Air Testing historic buildings, forming part of the original Royal Aircraft Establishment buildings.
Product Selection
The products, which were specified following extensive trials, were Belzona 3131 (WG Membrane), which was supplied in special colours and applied in a special application technique approved by specialist architects, Julian Harrap Associates. Other materials selected also included Belzona 4141 (Magma Build) for the repairs to the exposed beam surfaces.
Interesting points
The work comprised in excess of 50 small roofs or areas, and the existing roof coverings were stripped back to the original concrete structure. The completed project won the RIBA Southern Region Historic Building Award.
